Perplexity
Google for people who want answers, not ten links to click through.
Aravind was a researcher at OpenAI and DeepMind when he got fed up with Googling things and getting walls of SEO content back. He wanted an answer engine — something that actually read the web for you and told you what it found. He co-founded Perplexity in 2022. By 2025 it was doing over 100 million queries a day.
I don't remember the last time I used Google. That's the only metric that matters.
Editor's Take: Perplexity is the rare AI product where you feel the difference on day one. You stop clicking into links. You stop reading through SEO filler. You ask a question and get an actual answer — with sources you can verify. For research, for medical questions, for comparison shopping — it's become the tab we open first, every time. The Pro version with file uploads and deeper research is worth the $20 a month without question.
